A. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students seeking admission to St. Agnes’ Academy, whether coming from SAA sister schools or not or even if they are returning SAA students have to take an admission test to be administered by the Guidance Department.

          Guidelines on Admission

Admission of new students is determined by the Committee on Admission which is composed of the Principal, Assistant to the Principal for Academic Affairs, Guidance Coordinator or GS Guidance Counselor and a  GS teacher of the grade level being applied. The Committee admits an applicant whose academic records, Guidance Test and interview result indicate sufficient preparation and ability for the grade level he/she is applying for and whose character traits show promise that he/she will be a contributing member of the school community.

           Procedure for Admission

           See SAA Bulletin of Information

C. HOW STUDENTS’ PROGRESS IS REPORTED TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS

         REPORT CARD

Agnesians’ progress is reported to their parents/guardians through a Report Card which is issued every grading period. The schoolyear is divided into four (4) quarters and each quarter is a grading period. A student who does not perform as he/she should is issued a Parent-Teacher Conference letter along with the Report Card. This letter should be acted upon by the parent/guardian upon receipt. Likewise, the Report Card should be signed by the parent/guardian and returned promptly to the adviser. Lost of Report Card will be subject to penalty.

D. TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS

Tests and examinations are given to determine the strong and weak points of the student and to gauge how much he/she has learned of a subject.

     a. Periodical tests are to be taken on the schedule dates. If the reason for missing the test is valid such as

sickness (with medical certificate for serious illness), death of immediate member of the family and

accidents, student is given a special examination.

    • Giving special examination to students whose reason for missing the examinations as scheduled is   for transfer of residence and/or visiting another country will be done on case to case basis.

     b. Students have to follow all the instructions issued by the proctor.

     c. While the test is going on, talking, looking around, borrowing of  things like rulers, pencils, erasers, etc.

standing or any suspicious action are not allowed.

     d. Silence must be observed.

     e. Questions pertaining to a test while this is in progress, may be raised on the floor within the hearing of

the class. No individual student is allowed to approach a teacher for any question.

     f. If parents would like to see the test paper of their son/daughter, they should come to the Principal’s

Office. Test papers are considered as school documents and should not be reproduced in any form.

E. THE GRADING SYSTEM

The GRADING SYSTEM IS AVERAGING. The passing grade is 75% (not rounded off). A student who has a failing mark in a grading period  is entrusted with a notice for his/her parents, informing them of the failure.

A definite percentage distribution in computing the quarterly grades of each student in the different subject areas is followed.

F. PROMOTION/RETENTION

A student who has satisfactorily performed and complied with the requirements set for both academic and deportment may be promoted to the next higher level.Failure in any 2 major/academic subjects at the end of the school year regardless of the general average grade means retention in the same grade level if he/she chooses to stay in SAA, if not, he/she will be asked to transfer to another school.

  • A grade six pupil may pass the sixth grade but may not be admitted to SAA High School if he/she fails in any 2 academic subjects and has a general average lower than 80% and/or he/she breaks any major rule during his/her stay in the elementary department.
