Diciplinary Actions

          The goal in dealing with all behavioral problems is to change unacceptable behavior to socially-acceptable levels.

 

A. Disciplinary Actions for Minor Offenses

 

          Minor offenses are dealt with by the class adviser, the subject area teacher concerned and the OIC for Student Formation

 

          1st & 2nd violation  Adviser and teacher dialogue with the pupil

          3rd violation           -  Verbal warning is given to the pupil

          4th violation           -  Adviser issues PTC form to the parents and conference is held

          5th violation           -  A written warning is issued to the pupil in the presence of the parents. The 

                                           adviser submits the written warning to the Coordinator for Student Formation

          6th violation           -  Subject to the sanction of the first serious offense. A behavioral contract is

                                           signed with the parents and the pupil. The pupil is referred to the guidance

                                           counselor for counseling sessions.

 

B. Disciplinary Actions for Serious Offenses

 

   1. First Serious Offense

 

          A student who after due investigation is found to have committed a serious offense for the first time is given the following sanctions:

 

         a. Written warning (*disciplinary probation status) signed by the pupil, his/her parents, the class

             adviser OIC for Student Formation and Principal

         b. Lowest rating in deportment

         c. A zero score in case of cheating during test

 

   2. Second Serious Offense

 

          a. Sanction for the first serious offense

 

          b. Suspension

                    A suspended student shall be required to submit a reflection paper upon her return to class.

 

                    A student who after due investigation has been found to have committed a serious offense 

               the second time, irrespective of whether it is similar to the first, shall be suspended for a period

               of not more than 20% of the school days, with a warning that in the event of the commission of

               another serious offense, whether similar or different from the second, she will be denied future

                admission or enrolment, whether prejudice to her finishing the school year.

 

   3. Third Serious Offense

 

          a. Sanction for first serious offense.

              A written notice for dismissal or exclusion shall be served instead of a written warning.

 

          b. Exclusion

                      A student who has been found to have committed a serious offense the third time            

              irrespective of whether it is similar to the first and second, shall be dropped from the rolls of the

              school and/or otherwise be denied future admission to the grade school.

 

C. Disciplinary Actions for Very Serious Offense

 

          A pupil who after due investigation has been found to have committed a very serious offense shall be immediately  dropped from the rolls of the school and shall be denied future admission or enrollment in accordance with Section 77 (b) of the Manual  of Regulations for Private Schools, Eight Edition, 1992.

 

Procedure in Dealing with Serious and Very Serious Offenses

 

1. All serious and very serious offenses committed by the pupils shall be normally reported in writing by the

   class adviser and/or the teacher concerned to the Coordinator for Student Formation. The report shall

   state the nature and circumstances of the offense. It shall include any evidence or materials relevant to

   the case.

 

2. If after evaluation of the evidence there appears no ground to further proceed against the pupil

   concerned on the basis of the alleged offense, the Coordinator for Student Formation shall terminate and

   close case.

 

3. If the available evidence is sufficient to establish the offense, the pupil and his/her parents shall be

    informed in writing of the accusation along with the evidence on record.

 

4. The pupil, with the assistance of his/her parents shall answer the charges in writing

 

5. The Committee on Discipline shall consider the case submitted for resolution unless the Committee needs

    further clarification from the parties. It shall resolve the case within the ten (10) days.

 

6. If the sanction is higher than suspension, the committee’s resolution shall be elevated to the Directress

   for review and approval.

 

7. The pupil concerned and his/her parents shall be notified in writing  of the final resolution by the

    Committee on Discipline within ten (10) days from the approval thereof.

 

Note: Pupils dismissed due to disciplinary reasons cannot be issued Recommendation Letter from the school
