Duties and Responsibilities of the Librarian and Staff

A. LIBRARIAN

 

          The librarian administers the Instructional Media Center (IMC) and facilities as well as oversees the job performance of other library personnel. He/she is expected to:

 

1. draw up library pilicies in consultation with the administration and the faculty  and oversee their implementations.

 

2. give orientation lectures to students and exercise supervision  over the students research/library work.

 

3. assist the students and faculty in the use of library materials and services.

 

4. help the faculty in the integration of library services into the instructional program.

 

5. perform technical work such as classifying and cataloging  of book acquisitions.

 

6. provide the principal as well as faculty with list of new acquisitions periodically.

 

7. attend faculty meeting, workshops and seminars related to library resource development.

 

8. keep the library collection functional through continuous acquisition and systematic weeding out of obsolete books in cooperation with the administration.

 

9. make book orders and write the subscription letters to publishing  house.

 

10. prepare acquisition for IMC supplies

 

11. act as moderator of the young librarian.

 

12. be in charge of the bulletin board displays in the library.

 

13. prepare and oversee the budget performance of the IMC.

 

14. prepare annual inventory and update reports about library acquisitions, library development and programs.

 

15. assign and supervise work of the library staff and evaluate their job performance.

 

16. sign clearance of students, teachers, and staff at the end of the school year.

 

B. OIC-AVR

 

          The AVR In-Charge serves the school by guiding and assisting the students, teacher and other clientele in the use of non-print equipments or audio-visual materials. He/she is responsible for:

 

1. organizing audio-visual materials and equipment for easy accessibility.

 

2. attending meetings and seminars regarding proper use or manipulation of audio-visual materials.

 

3. orienting students and teachers regarding the proper use of audio-visual materials.

 

4. operating mechanical machines.

 

5. setting up lending policies in cooperation with the librarian.

 

6. informing teachers of new acquisition of AV materials.

 

7. making job request, purchasing and other requisitions.

 

8. preparing an inventory of the non-print materials/equipments at the end of the school year.

 

9. making bulletin board display in the AVR.

 

10. keep records of daily circulation of equipment.

 

11. maintain order and cleanliness in the non-print room and see that the Audio-Visual materials and equipment are always in good condition.

 

12 issuing clearance to teachers, staff and students at the end of the school year.

 

C. GRADE SCHOOL IMC-CLERK 1

 

         The GS-IMC clerk 1 assist in the smotth and easy library service to students and teachers. She is expected to:

 

1. take charge of visual-aid materials.

 

2. assist at the readers' service.

 

3. collect and update clippings for vertical materials.

 

4. type book cards of newly acquired IMC resources.

 

5. help repair damage books, periodicals and pamphlets.

 

6. cover with plastic newly acquired books.

 

7. take charge of opening the library in the morning.

 

8. assist in the upkeep and maintenance of the library.

 

D. GRADE SCHOOL IMC-CLERK 2

 

          The GS IMC clerk 2 assist in the smooth delivery of library service. She is also expected to:

 

1. take charge of the circulation counter.

 

2. help at the readers' service.

 

3. type book cards of newly acquired books.

 

4. keep records of daily circulation.

 

5. cover with plastic newly acquired books.

 

6. help damaged damage books, periodicals and pamphlets.

 

7. assist in the maintenace of order and cleanliness in the library.

 

8. help in the inventory of library books at the end of each semester.
