Purposes and Functions of the Grade School IMC

A. PURPOSES:

 

1. Instruct the students with the proper use and care of books and other materials in the Instructional Media Center.

 

2. Encourage life long education through the use of learning resources (both print and non-print).

 

3. Develop and emprove the reading habits of the students by providing appropriate materials and services.

 

4. Develop reasonable proficiency in the operation of different types of machines and equipment in audio-visual education.

 

B. FUNCTIONS:

 

          The Grade School Instructional Media Center IMC of St. Agnes' Academy is intended to serve its clientele by providing answers to specific questions, and meeting the general needs for information and entertainment.

 

          The IMC functions are summarized as follows:

 

1. Serves as a reading center of arousing and stimulating intellectual curiosity and the desire to learn.

 

2. Provides instructional materials (print snd non-print) for all the subject areas in the curriculum.

 

3. Serves as a central source of different kinds of teaching and learning materials.

 

4. Teaches informally by helping pupils gather information, by training them on how to use reference books, card catalog, and tools of learning.

 

5. Helps students develop positive attitudes towards learning habit of inquiry and skill in analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing and evaluating.
