The Student Activity Program

         The school provides a program of activities that supplements and enriches classroom experiences to meet the student’s needs and interests. The program aims in developing the students’ sense of responsibility, cooperation and generosity. It likewise, develops leadership potentials and provides opportunities for sharing special talents with others in the spirit of SERVICE to the community.

 

         The Student Activity Program is composed of the co-curricular and the extra-curricular activities. The co-curricular activities are realized through the different clubs/organizations which are held on Fridays other clubs meet on Saturday while the extra-curricular activities are held during class hours, usually involving a whole grade level or several grade levels at a time. Both the co-curricular and the extra-curricular activities play an important role in the life of a young Agnesian.

 

        Every student is encouraged to join and be an active member of a club of his/her choice. The students’ performance is evaluated/graded every semester using the following criteria:

 

            Service                                                 -           30 points

            Responsibility/Participation                     -           30 points

            Leadership                                            -           20 points

            Conduct/Attitude                                  -           10 points

            Attendance/Punctuality                          -           10 points

 

        The number of points that each student gets is converted to specific grade equivalent which is reflected in the report cards as Extra-Curricular Rating at the end of the year.

 

        The following are the activities that fall under each category:

 

I. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

 

A. ACADEMIC CLUBS:

1. Computer Club – Grade 5-6 

  • aims to develop and enrich the computer knowledge of the pupils.

2. Numerics – Grade 3-6 

  • develop further the mathematical skills of the students, tapping potential mathematicians who can represent the school in off-campus contests.

 

B. CIVIC/SOCIAL SERVICE CLUBS:

1. Pupil’s Coordinating Council (PCC) Grade 1-6

  • the official representative organization in the Grade School

  • aims to develop the leadership potentials of the students and

  • provides the opportunity to assist the administration and faculty in promoting a sense of responsibility and self-discipline among their fellow Junior Agnesians.

  • its members are all Junior Agnesian

 

2. Jr. Boy Scouts, Jr. Girl Scouts – Grades 4-6

     Star Scouts, Kab Scouts – Grades 1-3

     Twinklers, Kid Scouts – Prep

  • focuses on character development, citizenship training, skills for self-reliance and service to others

 

3. Peace Weavers – Grades 4-6

  • provides activities to promote peace

 

4. Munting Doktor – Grades 4-6

  • provides opportunities to explore and appreciate the medical-related work

 

C. ENVIRONMENTAL CLUBS:

1. Cool Eco-Kids – Grades 3-6

  • aims to help the members have a deep awareness and appreciation of their immediate environment and instill in them the role they have to play in its preservation

 

2. The Young Discoverers – Grades 4-6

  • provides opportunities to explore, discover and appreciate the wonders of Mother Nature and to investigate simple problems related to the world around us.

 

D. LITERARY CLUBS:

1. Theater Struck – Grades 3-6

  • instills the value of communicative competence through choral recitations, chants, dramatic presentations, etc.

 

2. Young Journalists’ – Grades 4-6

  • develops and enhances the journalistic and artistic skills through writing articles, poems, reactions, etc. in the school paper which is the Junior Agnesian.

 

3. Young Librarians – Grades 3-6

  • develops in its members the love for reading
  • provides opportunities to familiarize the use of print and non-print materials and a chance to assist in the implementation of library services.

 

E. MUSICAL CLUBS:

1. Drum and Lyre Corps – Grades 3-6

  • provides opportunities to play the drum and lyre and assist in community and school parades, flag ceremony, flag retreat and other activities.

 

2. Music Lovers – Grades 3-6

  • provides opportunities to discover  and enhance musical talents and skills in singing

 

3. Indayog – Grades 3-6

  • aims to promote the love for dancing
  • develops the students’ dancing skills, self-compliance, confidence, cooperation, patience, friendliness and leadership skills

 

4. The Frets/Rondalla – Grades 3-6

  • develop musical skills in playing stringed instruments specifically banduria

 

5. Junior Agnesian Band ( JAB) – Grades 4 – 6

  • provides opportunities to develop and enhance pupils talents in playing instruments in a band.

 

F. PHYSICAL CLUBS:

1. Sports Club - Grades 3-6 (Boys), Grades 4-6 (Girls)

  • provides activities to develop good sportsmanship and to widen the members knowledge in sports

 

2. AIKIDO KIDS – Grades 4 – 6

  • aims to develop physical endurance, self preservation and and more importantly discipline through martial arts

 

G. RELIGIOUS/SPIRITUAL CLUBS:

1. Leaven – Grades 4-6

  • a religious club which aims to train qualified boys and girls to become competent and behaved liturgical services assistants.

 

2. Little Evangelizers – Grade 6

  • provides opportunity for Grade 6 students to develop and share their God-given talents through peer teaching and catechesis for the benefit of the school and the larger community

 

3. Little Lambs of St. Agnes’ – Grades 3-4

    Young Benedictine Circle – Grades 4-6

  • instill the values of St. Benedict and St. Agnes through various activities

 

H. SOCIO-CULTURAL CLUBS:

1. Media Watch Club – Grades 4-6

  • helps students gain information on the nature of mass media techniques used by mass media and its impact on young people

 

2. Peer Facilitators’ Club – Grades 5-6

  • provides special training to become little counselors and to assist in the implementation of various guidance services

 

3. Young Amorsolo – Grades 3-6

  • provides various opportunities for expressing one’s feelings and emotions through drawing, sketching and other art skills

 

4. Young Homemakers Club – Grades 4-6

  • provides activities that develop skills and desirable work habits in home management.

 

5. Crafty Kios – Grades 3 - 6

  • an arts & crafts club which aims to provide activities that will enhance pupils’ creativity in scrapbooking, beadworks and other crafts that make use of recycled and indigenous materials
  • Clubs which conduct screening
  • Club meetings held every Saturday
