LONG TESTS AND PERIODIC EXAMINATIONS
Periodical examinations are given four times in the school year. Tuition fees for the month on which the tests/exams fall should be settled before the examination dates.
If there is any financial difficulty on the part of the parents, they may come at least one week before the examination day with a promissory note to be presented to the Principal.
Special examinations may be given to those who miss them for valid reason such as SERIOUS illness (for which a medical certificate must be presented) and death in the family.
Students who participate in school sanctioned Extra-Curricular Activities like programs, cultural presentations and contests which will entail staying away from classes are given special examinations (Long Tests and Periodical Tests).
Other reasons for missing the tests are to be evaluated on a case to case basis. Should they find merit, special examinations may be allowed.
The following rules are to be observed during Long Tests and Periodical Examinations:
a. All students taking an examination should be in complete school uniform.
b. Students are allowed to have only pencils, ball pens and rulers during the examination. When needed for the test as indicated in the test questionnaire, open books or notes and the use of other special materials or equipment are allowed. Borrowing, however, is not allowed.
c. Before the test or examination, the teacher-proctors should make sure that:
i. all bags are neatly placed on the platform;
ii. blackboards are wiped clean of any and all markings;
iii. seats are properly arranged; and
iv. cellular phones and other electronic gadgets are turned off and properly kept.
d. Students will not be allowed to leave the room while the test is going on except in emergencies. Students who leave the room before the end of the test/examination should surrender their test papers to the teacher-proctor. Once submitted, the test papers cannot be retrieved.
e. Test papers submitted to the teacher-proctor after he/she has left the testing room will be invalid.
f. The following will constitute cheating and shall be punishable as such:
i. possession of notes or any material related to the test, whether the student actually uses them or not;
ii. deliberately looking at the test papers of others or looking around;
iii. copying or allowing another to copy from one’s paper;
iv. having somebody else take the examination/test for another;
v. talking with or whispering to one another during the test;
vi. making unnecessary noise or calling the attention of another during the test;
vii. divulging test questions or answers, and
viii. possession of cellular phones (inside the pocket or within the immediate vicinity of the student) inside the
testing room whether the student actually uses them or not.
ABSENCE FROM LONG TESTS/PERIODIC EXAMINATIONS
a. A student who is absent during a long test or a quarterly test due to an illness will be considered excused if:
i. her/his parent guardian will inform the Principal on the day of the test,
ii. she/he submits a letter from her/his parent/guardian and a medical certificate if the absence is for three
or more days upon her/his return.
b. Absences due to reasons other than illnesses are very strongly discouraged.
c. A student who misses his/her scheduled make-up test automatically gets a zero in the long test or periodical test.
d. All special tests are to be completed on the week following the regular test schedule, on days to be determined by the Principal. No special tests are given before the scheduled periodical exams. A student may be allowed to take special exams once in a school year.
e. A 15% deduction from the results of the periodical tests shall be imposed on students who absent themselves one day before the start of the examination and/or on the school day immediately following the end of the test without any valid reason.
