Use and Care for School Facililties

1. Telephone

    The telephone at the information is for business only. A student may use the phone only during emergencies. Any student who needs to call must present a permit-to-Call slip duly signed by the Principal or Activities/Academic Coordinator.

 

2. Photocopier

    The student may avail of the photocopying services at the Business Office during recess and from 4:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon.

 

3. Drinking Fountain

    The students should take turn and stay in line at the drinking fountain. They are not to throw seeds, food wrappers and things that would cause clogging of the pipes.

 

4. Lavatories

    Lavatories and comfort rooms must be kept tidy and clean at all times. Students are not allowed to leave their classrooms during class hours to go to the comfort rooms except in cases of emergency. In exchange for the student’s ID.

 

5. Chapel

    The chapel is a place for prayer, for silence, for reflection and other religious activity. It is not used for meetings. Silence is to be maintained at all times to create an atmosphere conducive for prayer and reflection.

 

6. Gymnasium

    The gymnasium is the place for holding P.E. classes, for light games after class hours, or programs and presentations .The gym should be kept free of litters at all times.

 

7. TLE Working Area

    T.L.E. classes, small group activities, deepening sessions and other group practices may be held at the TLE working area. Students are to keep the area clean at all times.

 

8. Kiosks

    There are kiosks around the high school campus. Priority use of these kiosks is for small group sharing of the WORD (Holy Scriptures) of the C.L.E. classes. They may, however, be used by the other subject areas in their group activities.

 

9. Learning Resource Center (Print)

    All students, faculty and staff of St. Agnes’ Academy are entitled to use the Learning Resource Center and its resources are subject to the following rules and regulations:

 

a. The Learning resource Center is a place for research and study, hence SILENCE is strictly observed.

 

b. Eating, drinking, shouting and running in the LRC are not allowed.

 

c. No student may borrow books from the library without a library card secured from the Librarian. Library cards are non-transferable. Borrowing of books using somebody else’s card is no allowed.

 

d. All borrowed fiction books may be kept for a period of two weeks, renewable for another week. A student is allowed to borrow three fiction books at a time.

 

e. Reference books such as encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries and yearbooks are not to be taken out of the Learning Resource Center. Magazines, pamphlets and newspapers may not be taken out as well.

 

f. A student who has overdue books may not be allowed to borrow, until the overdue book is returned.

 

g. Lost books and other library materials should be replaced or paid for the current cost. Damaged books are likewise to be replaced or paid for.

 

10. Learning Resource Center (Non-print- AVR )

     Audio visual aids or media materials are provided for teachers’ and students’ use to improve and enliven instruction.

      Request for the use of the AVR or its facilities and materials should be given at least 24 hours before they are needed. Normally, requisitions may be attended to on a “first come, first serve” basis, but priorities may be agreed upon and given depending on the urgency of the request.

      Materials which have been borrowed and brought out of the AVR should be returned as soon as possible or at the latest at the end of the day.

 

11. Music Room

       The Music Room is used for the Music classes, band and chorale practices only. No one may stay inside this room without permission from the teacher-in-charge or from the Principal. The musical instruments in the room should not be taken out of this room without permission from the teacher-in-charge.

 

12. Computer Room

      Computers are provided for the student’s hands-on activities during their computer classes. Students who wish to use the computers outside of their class schedule must secure permission from the Principal. Playing computer games and eating are strictly prohibited. School bags may not be brought inside the computer room.

 

13. Laboratories

      Proper use of materials, equipment, light and water should be observed at all times. No laboratory instrument or apparatus may be taken out without prior permission from the laboratory teacher and the laboratory aide.

 

14. Instrumentation Room

      Between the two science laboratories is the Instrumentation Room where chemicals, equipment and supplies are kept. The Instrumentation Room is OFF LIMITS to students. Equipment and apparatus  to be used in experiments as well as chemicals and reagents may be requested from the laboratory aide through the dispensing window. Equipment and apparatus borrowed must be returned dry and clean.

 

15. Home Economics Room / Sewing Room

      The H.E. Room includes a living room, kitchen, guest rooms and a lecture area for the cooking classes.

 

Adjacent to the H.E. Room is the Sewing room. Students may not use the H.E. Room and the Sewing Room outside of their regular class periods without permission from the TLE teacher and the Principal.

 

16. Classrooms

      The classroom is a place where learning activities take place. It may also be used for official practices and meetings during non-class hours. Permission for its use outside the regular class hours must be sought from the class adviser.

 

The following rules and regulations should be observed in the use of the classrooms:

a. Boisterous behavior, unnecessary noise, playing, eating and drinking are not allowed in the classrooms. In case the teacher is absent, the class officers are responsible for the behavior of the class.

 

b. Walls, bulletin boards, window panes, blackboards and the teacher’s table must be kept clean.

 

c. Trash should be deposited in the trash cans placed along the corridors. Some students must be assigned in case a class activity will generate excess garbage to be disposed of after the period.

 

d. Bags and other school items must be orderly kept beside the seat of the owner.

 

e. Blackboards and bulletin boards are for official use only. Unauthorized persons may not write on the blackboards or make postings on the bulletin boards

 

f. Chalks should only be used with the permission of the teacher.

 

g. Chairs should be kept properly arranged and free of any markings/vandals.

 

h. Students are expected to maintain a sound learning-teaching atmosphere inside the classrooms regardless of whether the teacher is present or not. If a classroom activity will disturb other classes a proper venue may be arranged with the approval of the academic coordinator.

 

i. After use of the classrooms, students must put all furniture back in place, leave the room free of litter and switch off lights and turn off fans. Classrooms are off limits to students during lunch breaks. Students are allowed to stay in the classrooms during recess provided they behave responsibly, refrain from making noise and observe cleanliness and orderliness.

 

j. During class hours, students are not allowed to drink other beverage except water.
