St. Agnes' Academy Vision-Mission Statement

Animated by the person of Jesus Christ and the teachings of St. Benedict,

St. Agnes’ Academy

a Filipino, Catholic and

Benedictine institution,

nurtures a learning, loving and living community

for positive social transformation.

As a Filipino institution, St. Agnes’ Academy aims to instill students a deep respect and love for what is distinctly Bikol, in particular, and Filipino culture, in general.  It strives to mold them into critically aware and responsible agents of social transformation.  This means not only that our engages in social action or has a social action center, but that it should be socially oriented in its objectives, thrust, curriculum and operations.  These find expression in a socially-oriented school, a school:

  • whose administration, faculty and students are conversant with the current economic, political, social cultural and ecological conditions of the Philippines;

  • where the academic community is actively involved in working with the marginalized of society towards self-reliance and total human liberation;

  • where curricular and co-curricular activities foster the development of social awareness and involvement of the different sectors of the community with chosen programs of action that promote genuine democracy and nationalism;

  • whose systems of evaluation recognize the uniqueness of every person, develop critical thinking and cultivate social responsibility;

  • where policies of employment and interrelationships reflect social values, especially justice, equality and respect for human dignity; and

  • where the various sectors participate in making decisions and policies which affect them.

As a Catholic – Benedictine institution, its education is animated by three influences:  Christ who is encountered anew each day in Scripture and the human person, The Rule of Benedict, and the 1500 year-old rich tradition of those who have pursued Christian and monastic holiness in the past.  Ten core values can be distilled from the Rule of Benedict: love, prayer, obedience, stability, discipline, stewardship, humility, community, hospitality, and conversation:

  • Love of Christ and neighbor

  • Prayer: a life marked by liturgy, Lectio Divina and mindfulness

  • Stability: Commitment to the daily life of this place, its heritage and tradition

  • Conversatio: the way of formation and transformation

  • Obedience: a commitment of listening and consequent action

  • Discipline: a way towards learning and freedom

  • Humility: knowledge of self, in relation of God, others and creation

  • Hospitability: openness to the other

  • Community: call to serve the  common good

These values shape a pattern of life for the campus community and can be seen as hallmark of education vitality and fidelity to the school’s mission.

            Based on our institutional vision-mission statement, St. Agnes’ Academy strives to become a community that:
