The Coordinator of Academic Affairs
The Coordinator of Academic Affairs assists the Principal in the management of the High School’s academic program.
He/she is appointed by the Directress upon the recommendation of the Principal for a term of one (1) year with possible re-appointments.
As she relates to the Principal, she is expected to:
1. Oversee the preparation of class and teaching schedules.
2. Recommend to the Principal teaching assignments of the faculty.
3. Update the Principal regularly of the status of the academic program in the light of the
objectives of the school.
4. Preside over faculty meetings on academic matters.
5. Submit the final evaluation of teacher applicants to the Principal.
6. Assume any other duties that the Principal may assign.
As she relates to the faculty members, she is expected to:
1. Work for continuing improvement of the academic standards by:
a. Implementing the academic aspect of the school’s faculty development program.
b. Implementing a system of evaluation of faculty performance by observing classes, collating
evaluation reports from subject area chairpersons and discussing ways and means toward
teacher improvement with those concerned.
c. Studying with the respective teachers the causes of student failures and other academic
problems, and discussing ways of meeting them.
d. Considering feedback from the faculty regarding classes and teachers and appraising the
Principal thereof
2. Have direct academic supervision over the subject area chairpersons.
3. Oversee and demonstrate integration of content and activities in the different academic areas
together with the subject area chairperson.
4. Approve programs of instruction in the different areas of instruction and oversee effective
implementation of these programs.
5. Coordinate research activities in the High School.
6. Prepare special programs such as remedial and enrichment, etc.
7. Make adjustments in the schedule of teachers who are absent and/or provide substitutes for
absent teachers.
8. Take charge of teacher recruitment:
a. Answer letters of applicant
b. Conduct preliminary interviews
c. Arrange for testing
d. Arrange for demonstration lessons
e. Evaluate teacher-applicant
As she relates to the students and their parents, she is expected to:
1. Implement a system of evaluation of student performance in the light of the objectives of the
school.
2. Plan and implement a system of reporting student progress to parents.
3. Confer with parents in cases of grave academic difficulties.
4. Consider feedback from parents regarding the children and other school matters.
