The High School Principal

          The Principal is the chief administrative and supervising officer in the High School.  She sees to it that the purposes and objectives of the school are properly understood and that a sincere effort to attain them is made by all concerned.  She assumes the major responsibility in the planning and executing of the policies of the department.  She is appointed for a term of three (3) years with possible re-appointments.

 

As she relates to the Directress, she is expected to:

 

1. Communicate with the Directress on matters concerning the operations and activities of the faculty and

    the students.

 

2. Execute and implement directives from the Office of the Directress and from the Department of Education.

 

3. Prepare the budget of the unit and oversee budget performance.

 

4. Bring up major curricular revisions to the Directress and the Educational Council. For approval.

 

5. Recommend to the Directress appropriate changes in the school’s organizational structure.

 

6. Make recommendations to the Directress regarding promotion and salary increases of faculty members.

 

7. Be responsible for all reports to be submitted to the Directress and the Department of Education.

 

8. Maintain and update all appropriate departmental records.

 

As she relates to the faculty and staff, she is expected to:

 

1. Provide the leadership for carrying out the objectives of the school, and the observance of the rules and

    policies of the school as adopted by the Board of Trustees and the Educational Council.

 

2. Approve faculty loads and other assignments upon the recommendation of the Coordinator of Academic

    Affairs.  

 

3. Approve class programs and teaching schedules.

 

4. Preside over the preparation of the calendar of activities and schedule and dispatch weekly/monthly

    schedule of activities.

 

5. Exercise educational leadership among the faculty members and carry out a well-planned program of faculty

    development.

 

6. Observe classroom instruction.

 

7. Plan and supervise a faculty evaluation program together with the Academic Coordinator.

 

8. Discuss the evaluation of the teachers with the Academic Coordinator and Subject Area Chairpersons and

    give final approval of the same.

 

9. Consider and take action on the recommendations of the Committee on Discipline.

 

10. Approve curricular procedures and policies.

 

11. Endorse job requests, purchase orders and requisitions for materials.

 

12. Preside over general faculty meetings.

 

13. Conduct the final interview of the teacher applicants and make the final decision regarding the applicants’

      acceptance.

 

As she relates to the students, parents and other members of the community, she is expected to:

 

1. Articulate the school’s mission and objectives to the outside community.

 

2. Maintain wholesome public relations in the schools and the community.

 

3. Communicate with parents, other administrators and visitors whenever necessary.

 

4. Grant the necessary permission for student involvement in and out-of-school activities.

 

5. Approve and sign diplomas, non-academic awards and certificates for students recommended by the faculty

    and organization moderators.

 

6. Negotiate, approve and direct research activities involving the high school with outside agencies. 

 

7. Negotiate and approve arrangement for consultancy services with outside agencies.
